Mr. Samarasinghe is a Director of Mackwoods (Pvt) Ltd., Mackwoods Healthcare (Pvt) Ltd., and Deputy Chairman of Shaw Wallace and Hedges Ltd.

He was the former Managing Director of Mackwoods (Pvt) Ltd. He has also held the positions of Chairman of the Employers’ Federation of Ceylon, President of the National Chamber of Commerce, Director of Ceylon Oxygen Ltd. and a Member of the Coconut Development Authority. Mr. Samarasinghe is a member of the Inland Revenue Board of Review.
